Acute Diastolic (Congestive) Heart Failure – [ICD -10 - I50.31]
Acute Diastolic (Congestive) Heart Failure – [ICD -10 - I50.31]
Acute Diastolic Heart Failure (ICD-10-150.31) means the lower left chamber of the
heart (left ventricle) is not able to fill with required blood during diastolic
phase, reducing the amount of blood pumped to the body organs. Because there is
less blood in the ventricle, less blood is pumped out to the body. Diastolic
phase is when the heart relaxes and fills with blood. Acute diastolic heart
failure occurs when the left ventricle muscle becomes stiff or thickened.
