2025 Medicare Part A & B Premiums, Deductibles, and Part D Income Adjustments

2025 Medicare Part A & B Premiums, Deductibles, and Part D Income Adjustments

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have announced the updated premiums, deductibles, and coinsurance rates for Medicare Part A and Part B programs for 2025, along with the income-related adjustments for Medicare Part D. Here’s an overview of the changes:

Medicare Part A Premiums and Deductibles

Medicare Part A provides coverage for inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, hospice, inpatient rehabilitation, and some home health services. Most beneficiaries (about 99%) do not pay a premium for Part A, as they meet the requirement of at least 40 quarters of Medicare-covered employment through the Social Security Administration.

Part A Deductibles and Coinsurance for 2025:

·         Inpatient hospital deductible: $1,676

·         Daily coinsurance for days 61-90 of inpatient hospital stay: $419

·         Daily coinsurance for lifetime reserve days: $838

·         Skilled nursing facility coinsurance for days 21-100: $209.50

Medicare Part B Premiums and Deductibles

Medicare Part B includes coverage for physician services, outpatient care, durable medical equipment, certain home health services, and other healthcare services not covered by Part A.

Key Updates for 2025:

  • Monthly premium: $185.00 (an increase of $10.30 from $174.70 in 2024)
  • Annual deductible: $257 (up $17 from $240 in 2024)

Beneficiaries who have reached the end of their full Medicare coverage 36 months post-kidney transplant and lack other forms of insurance may continue Part B coverage specifically for immunosuppressive medications. The standard premium for this coverage is $110.40, with adjustments based on income.

Medicare Part D Income-Related Adjustments

Medicare Part D premiums are based on income and vary by the plan selected. Beneficiaries will pay a monthly premium that reflects their income bracket in addition to any adjustments for their specific plan.
