Salmonella is a bacterium that
can cause food-borne illnesses. People infected with Salmonella can experience one or more of the following symptoms as Diarrhea, Fever, and Abdominal cramps between 12 and
72 hours after Salmonella infection caused. The illness usually stays between 4
to 7 days, and it can be recovered without treatment. But, in some cases, Salmonella
cause very serious condition patient needs to be hospitalized in such
situation.
The
World Health Organization (WHO) officially announced Salmonella as one of four
key global causes of diarrhea diseases.
As per Centers of Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) Salmonella causes about 1.35 million illnesses,
26,500 hospitalizations, and 420 deaths.
It should be noted that Children are at
the highest risk for Salmonella infection. Mostly Children's under the age of 5 years have higher
rates of Salmonella infection
than any other age group.
